AA Patawaran on Getting Started

Author, writer, and lifestyle editor AA Patawaran is someone with great advice on creative writing and inspiration. His book Write Here Write Now: Standing at Attention Before My Imaginary Style Dictator offers practical tips and stories from his experience as a writer and editor. Whatโ€™s great is it could be a playbook for any creator out there.

Got a Thing for Music & Its Lesser-Known Stories? ๐ŸŽถ

Our love for music and stories behind good music led us to Middle 8.

And if weโ€™re being honest, we canโ€™t stop watching these videos. Run by a creator Frank Furtado, Middle 8 is a YouTube channel that brings great stories behind music, and why some albums were made. We love the graphics too. โœจ

Middle 8 also runs a podcast where Frank interviews musicians. Watch one of the videos here.๐Ÿ‘‡

Justine Ezarik Launches The Creators Guild of America for Digital Creators

YouTuber Justine Ezarik launches The Creators Guild of America to support and help digital video creators understand their rights.

If you go through their website, the mission is: to empower digital creators with resources, recognition, and community to maximize their creative and financial endeavors.

Some benefits of joining this guild is to learn about industry best practices, access resources, opportunities, and network with fellow creators to discover collaboration opportunities.

The eligibility criteria for joining this guild is you should either be an influencer or creator, a marketing individual, or a founder/producer. Check out more details here.

From the looks of it, this guild intends to solve more than just understanding the rights of a creators โ€” it intends to create a circuit of services and features that help creators and makers join a community of likeminded individuals. The board itself consists of folks, such as Justine Ezarik (of course), Nick Rizzuto of Linktree, Wil Schroter of Startups.com, while it's sponsored by Adobe, Beacons, and Mosaic.

Tubefilter says, โ€œThese efforts are looking to succeed where previous attempts to organize digital media labor have failed. The most notable of those attempts was the Internet Creators Guild led by Hank Green. The ICG helped members negotiate contracts and fought to raise the price of their brand deals, but it shuttered in 2019 after running out of funding.โ€
