You know how we all have days when it’s absolutely impossible to wake up and create? Yup, we’re talking about those days when no amount of motivation or pep talk can push us.

What do you do then? Do you sit back, grab a lemonade and chill or do you panic, seek motivation from...err TED talks and fictional heroes to try and create? 🦸‍♀️

This brings us to another question: DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO CREATE? 🤔

On that note, let’s begin today’s Going Solo with:

  • Haruki Murakami on Creating
  • Jazz Music to a YouTube Channel with 954K Subscribers
  • Twitter to Introduce Crypto Payments for its Creators
  • The Importance of Mental Wellbeing for Creators

Haruki Murakami on Creating

Japanese writer Haruki Murakami’s writing often transports us to a surreal world where we’re talking to cats and clouds. For those familiar with his writing, you already know discovering inspiration comes along discovering music — along with them comes savouring moments of nothingness.

A particular line from his book Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman is apt for those days when we’re unable to create. 👇

Sometimes that nothingness leads us somewhere. 🚶

Jazz Music to a YouTube Channel with 954K Subscribers

David Payette is the creator behind the YouTube Channel Payette Forward that has about 954K subscribers. During his teenage, he fell in love with the piano and determined to become the best jazz pianist in the world. But, life had other plans for him.

He worked at an Apple Store in New York and around that time, he also battled cancer. During that time, he became self-aware and mindful, which led to finding meaningful work or gigs that he enjoyed. Soon, he quit that job and began consulting with various firms before launching his YouTube channel.

We wrote a Twitter thread about his journey which proves with fortitude, you can only emerge stronger.💪

Twitter to Introduce Crypto Payments for its Creators

Twitter has been super crucial in taking the creator economy forward with its features like Super Follows and Spaces. And now, it has joined hands with Stripe to pay out its creators in cryptocurrency. Twitter is already using Stripe Connect to pay its creators, but with this new announcement, it’s all set to pay USDCoin in the following weeks.

This feature will first pilot with US creators, but we’re hoping it’ll spread across the horizons, bringing fortune to more creators out there. Esther Crawford, Twitter’s Product Lead for Creators, announced last Friday. 👇🏼

“Twitter is where people go to have conversations about what’s happening. We’re focused on helping creators who drive those conversations earn money and connect with their audiences in new ways. We’re excited to begin offering crypto payouts to creators via Stripe so they have more choice in how they get paid.”

The Importance of Mental Wellbeing for Creators

For one of our Fireside Chats, we caught up with Pallavi Pareek, the founder of Ungender — a POSH enterprise cell.

In our one-hour conversation, we discussed the evolution of a creator’s life on social media and how the medium can impact creators. We also spoke about how trolling and dealing with trolls have become a part of our social media lives now.

This important conversation is something we’ll leave you with.

We’ll be back with more next Friday.

Until then,

We hope you take some time off to sit back and chill! 🍹
